S40 (Mk II) 2004-2012
Due to the complexity of the vehicle dashboard and wiring harness there are currently no solutions for replacing the factory radio.
The Volvo S40 from 2004-2012 had 3 different sound systems:
Performance Sound
This was fitted as the standard sound system for these models and is the most common. Although it had a couple of variations during its lifespan, it typically consisted of a 6 or 8 speaker set up without an amplifier.
High Performance Sound
When the powering up it will show 'HIGH PERFORMANCE SOUND' on the radio display. This was fitted both as an optional audio upgrade, or as standard on higher spec Volvos. It incorporates a separate amplifier.
Dynaudio or Dolby Pro Logic II
When the powering up it will show ‘PREMIUM SOUND' on the radio display. These sound systems were fitted as optional upgrades and incorporate a separate amplifier and uprated factory speakers. Logos on the speakers will help identify whether a Dynaudio or Dolby system.
