Amp Kits

Amplifier wiring kits remove the need to buy lots of individual cables by providing everything you need to connect your amplifier in one handy box. The main differences between the various options are size and material.

Size refers to the thickness of the cable often measured in gauge (AWG), where confusingly the lower the number the thicker the cable. The amplifier manufacturer will recommend the minimum required gauge of cable for their product to work correctly.

The materials used within amp kits are generally split in two, CCA or OFC. CCA stands for Copper Clad Aluminium and as it suggests the cable is made of Aluminium that is then coated in Copper. OFC is Oxygen Free Copper which means the cable is made from pure, high grade copper. Of the two CCA is the cheaper but isn’t as good a conductor, thereby making OFC the audiophile’s choice when constructing a high end system. However CCA is still a good option for cabling and certainly a good job for a budget conscious build.
